2013 Boy Scouts Jamboree

April 23rd, 2012

We encourage all WV-AWWA members to plan ahead now to participate with the section at the 2013 Boy Scout Jamboree, scheduled for July 15-23, 2013. The Jamboree is being built to accommodate 40,000 Scouts and 7,000 leaders at the Summit Bechtel Family National Scout Reserve, located on 1,300 acres of the 10,600 acres owned by the Boy Scouts of America next to the New River Gorge National River Park and the New River. There will be a “Summit Center” available to visitors and scouts where the new Conservation Trail will be located in addition to other exhibits and an 80,000-capacity arena. Last year’s Conservation Trail had more than 49,000 participants.

The WV-AWWA section has been asked to participate as an exhibitor and provide hands-on demonstrations and activities on drinking water and the waterworks industry for thousands of scouts next summer. For more information on how you can participate, please contact our section’s Jamboree liaison Allen Gibbs at (304) 523-3484 or allen.gibbs@cithornburg.com. More details will be forthcoming on our website and in future newsletters.
